Product Description

A gentle lift can make all the difference, helping you move into poses while protecting your joints. Sustainable cork's natural traction adds stability to your poses. As part of the company's continued commitment to "greening" its products, Hugger Mugger remakes its popular yoga wedge in sustainable cork. The wedge is designed to support your yoga practice from your heels to your hands, making it particular suitable to iyengar, anusara, and restorative yoga. The wedge fits comfortably under your heels for grounding in dog pose or squatting positions, under your hands to ease pressure on your wrists in dog pose, or under your hips for seated poses. Sturdy and stable, the wedge is also light enough to carry just about anywhere. About Hugger Mugger Sara Chambers, founder of Hugger-Mugger, was an accomplished woodworker when she came to yoga. Its tremendous impact on her health made yoga a way of life for Sara. She began developing wooden and fabric tools to help with her practice. Local teachers and students asked Sara to make things for them, and word spread. Sara continued to develop products for fellow yogis, including the company’s namesake, Hugger-Muggers, the now-famous unisex yoga shorts with a legband around the thighs to cover what’s underneath. Since the word hugger-mugger means to conceal, the catchy name Hugger-Mugger fit. Among Hugger-Mugger's most noted designs is the Tapas Sticky Mat, which has become the yoga practice essential. Predecessor mats were not designed specifically for yoga and would deteriorate quickly with us. The Tapas Sticky Mat was the first long-term performance yoga mat and continues to set the standards for the industry. For more than 20 years, Hugger-Mugger has been known as an innovator of technically excellent yoga products serving yoga teachers and students throughout the world. Hugger-Mugger is committed to developing products of performance, style, and comfort. The company strongly believes in the benefits of the practices of yoga and meditation.

It appeared to be big enough to use. It’s so small it’s worthless!

I have some hand and wrist pain from working at a computer all day, and the more I practice yoga, the more the pain is exacerbated. My wrists just can’t handle weight on that 90-degree angle bend. I have a pair of Wags gloves (gloves with a wedge in the palm to alleviate the angle) which help my writs a bit, but then they cause some hand pain because my palms aren’t able to make full contact with the mat.I decided to try this wedge and chose cork for a natural material and figured it would provide more grip than foam. I appreciate the 1.5” rise isn’t too steep - it just gently alleviates the angle of the wrist so it’s not at 90 degrees.Unfortunately though, two big cons:1. It gets in the way a lot in transitions like downward dog to high lunge, where I need the wedge for downward dog but then my foot needs to go exactly where the wedge is. And then the reverse happens for things like cobra to downward dog, where I need the middle of the mat free for cobra but then need the wedge for downward dog. So I find myself having to kick and push it out of the way all the time, then pull it back into position again which really disrupts the flow. If they made these as two separate blocks instead of one large, I’d buy those instead.2. It’s only 6” wide. I have small hands at about 6.5” long so I thought I could make it work, but the top joints of my middle and ring finger spill uncomfortably off the edge, putting pressure on my fingers because they have no support.Unfortunately I’ll have to return this because it’s just too small to function as a wrist support if I can’t fit my entire palm on it. If you’re using it as a general wedge to support your feet in downward dog or hips in pigeon or something similar, I think it’d be fine. But I’ll be searching for wedges that can accommodate my full hand instead.

Works great. Doesn't slip on me. I use it on my mat for warrior 1 and also for my hands in urdvadanurasana (wheel or upward facing bow). I like that it's soft and smooth, also very wide/long.

I am always trying to buy better quality, "greener" yoga props that won't end up languishing in a landfill for far too many years. I was delighted to find this wedge made of cork rather than ugly plastic / foam products that you usually see. The wedges are quite pretty, with the natural cork color and Hugger Mugger logo. I'm sensitive to smells, and these have only the faintest hint of natural cork smell to them. The size and shape seem about perfect, and I look forward to sharing them with my students to help ease wrist issues or heels that can't quite reach the floor in malasana. Minus one star for being manufactured in China and BIG shame on Amazon for the insane amount of over-packaging these came in. I bought two, and each was in its own box surrounded by lots of paper padding. Then both of those boxes were in a huge box with another ton of paper. ONE of the small boxes would have been plenty big for both wedges plus protective padding. So much for lowering my carbon footprint! :-/

Although the wedge has helped in alleviating my wrist discomfort, I was disappointed with several aspects of the wedge. I feel the wedge should provide a bit more cushioning, and very disappointed that the surface is not more "slip" proof. In reading other reviews, this appears to be a frequent complaint with not only Hugger Mugger's wedge, but with other manufactures as well.I find it almost insulting that companies who supposedly specialize in yoga products, and should, therefore, know better, manufacturer or contract for such a product. And, even more annoying, continue to sell the product even though many have pointed out the flaw.Frankly, customers should stop purchasing these products until the companies begin incorporating these common sense changes.

I have a cork yoga mat and wanted to try the cork wedge so they'd match :) I'm glad I did. It's great for my wrists in wheel pose. It would be nice if it were a little sturdier (it's sturdy on the ground, but a little flimsy when holding it in the air to put away, etc), but that would probably make it heavier and I appreciate the light weight.

I love my Hugger Mugger cork wedge! I started an asana and meditation practice about 9 months ago. My meditation practice has always been challenged by hip and knee pain. Blocks are too high and hard. Rolled up blankets too soft. I even used my rice-filled eye pillow. Nothing worked and the pain just wouldn't allow me to sit cross-legged for even 10 minutes without fidgeting and adjusting.Hugger Mugger's cork wedge changed all that! Now I can sit up to 2.5 hours without pain and fidgeting. The wedge is the perfect height and hardness and is so light it doesn't add any weight to my mat bag.Yay for Hugger Mugger!

My wrists are not very open due to my bone structure which really hindered me in handstand. The wedge has enabled me to hold my handstand as well quite useful for crow, crane, and wheel. Another thing I have found useful, is cutting it in half with a utility knife, it fits very well in a backpack. I was so happy to find this prop and it works great!!
